Convention Facilities

Colorado Convention Center
pictureThe Colorado Convention Center is a one million square foot facility located four blocks south of Johns Manville Plaza. The facility currently encompasses four city blocks and provides 46 meeting rooms and a main hall offering 292,000 square feet of contiguous exhibition space. The Convention Center welcomed over 738,000 convention delegates to Denver in 2000, contributing over $6.6 million to the Denver economy. The facility helped Denver land the International Summit of Eight and the 1998 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

The Colorado Convention Center is in the construction phase of a $289 million expansion. The expansion will include a new 300,000 square foot exhibit hall, 60,000 square feet of rooftop meeting rooms, a second ballroom of 20,000 square feet, a 1,000-car parking garage, and a bridge over Stout Street connecting the Convention Center to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts ("DCPA"). A new 1,100-room convention hotel is expected to open by 2003.

The DCPA, the largest performing arts complex under one roof in the nation, is located adjacent to the Colorado Convention Center. The DCPA includes a 2,830 seat symphony hall, two large auditoriums totaling 4,700 seats which frequently host Broadway productions, three small theaters, a resident repertory company, the Denver Symphony Orchestra and a 1.600 vehicle parking structure.
